Last week, WRIF programmer Mark Pennington sent me a link to a promotional “trailer” for AC/DC’s Beyond The Thunder documentary.
The film itself is a whole other story because it is an amazing work in progress by a couple of AC/DC fans who are on a mission to show how the band’s power and influence has connected rockers all over the world.
The video segment below – well worth your time – says it all about the power of Rock N’ Roll, AC/DC, and the influence their music has had on millions of lives – not to mention advertising campaigns.
These days, the state of Rock Radio is an oft-debated question in the radio community. The lack of new artist development, coupled with the rise of CHR, Country, and spoken word formats, has dwarfed Rock’s footprint.
Or has it?
This five minute segment from Beyond The Thunder is a powerful reminder about rock’s impact on our lives and our worlds, courtesy of AC/DC. Every Rock station in America should load this video on every one of their account executives laptops and tablets.
When clients ask about how Rock is doing or what makes your station different, the spirit that comes through in this video speaks to the power of marketing and branding – connecting people with brands – and of course, lots of head shaking.
In Paul’s presentations to salespeople and local market advertisers, his deck always contains examples of the many Rock and Classic Rock songs that are used in TV commercials. Agency creative departments are well aware of this great music that moves consumers – and the world.
It’s all about the power of great brands – their authenticity, and how to nurture and grow them.
And as Pennington noted in drawing a parallel to his legendary station and this iconic rock band, “As a team we must strive to protect and grow our brand and at the same time produce powerful results for our clients.” That’s what great brands are all about.
